Cross Culture has been doing ministry in the Raleigh/Durham area since 2008. As you look back at history, you’ll see our roots began with a group of followers of Jesus willing to lay aside personal preferences to do whatever is necessary to engage our culture with the message of Jesus Christ and to be a church that crosses cultural barriers and brings people together for the glory of God. The vision was to take the cross to the culture and the culture to the cross. This group of believers began meeting at Leesville High School faithfully setting up and tearing down weekly. In 2020, Dan Johnson became the lead pastor of Cross Culture. Under his leadership, the body of believers moved into their first permanent home on Page Road in Durham, NC.
In 2025, Cross Culture Church became Cross Culture at Leesville Road as they merged with Lighthouse Leesville Road, shifting our location to the heart of a growing, diverse community near Brier Creek in Durham & Raleigh. This beautiful merger of 2 churches presents a unified witness of the Gospel for the glory of God and the furthering of His Kingdom.
Cross Culture at Leesville Road is a diverse group of people that desire to glorify God by making disciples that make disciples and to reflect the community so that everyone can hear the Gospel and become a disciple of Jesus Christ.
This is our why - the reason we exist.
Cross Culture is a church that longs to reflect the community around us. We work vigorously at creating a safe space for those who are hurting and in need of God’s comforting hand. There are no perfect people found at Cross Culture. We aim to be honest about ourselves knowing we are all sinners desperately in need of God’s saving grace. We equip disciples of Jesus to be able to engage our community so that through relationships they can evangelize the lost and then disciple other Christ-followers. We encourage disciples to pursue maturity through discipleship that affects our lives spiritually, financially, and emotionally so that every person can share the Gospel with others in their sphere of influence - that reaches the ends of the earth.
Our church is part of a network of churches called the TriWest Network. We partner with TriWest Network in local and global mission endeavors. The mission is to work in cooperation with one another to impact the whole world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Jesus prayed that his church would be one (John 17:21), and we believe there is really ONE church in the Kingdom of God. Denominations tend to divide us rather than unite us. We aren’t about trumpeting a label or a brand of Christianity. We exist to love Jesus and to inspire our community to love and follow Him so that every person is reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation. (Read how we help reach the nations in our own backyard by partnering with local missionaries here with Global Gates.)
We were birthed in February 2008 out of a burden to be a group of followers of Jesus willing to lay aside personal preferences to do whatever is necessary to engage our culture with the message of Jesus Christ, and to be a church that crosses cultural barriers and brings people together for the glory of God. In 2025, we merged with Lighthouse Leesville Road, becoming Cross Culture at Leesville Road furthering the Gospel in unity.

Some dress up and some dress casual. In fact, Pastor Dan wears jeans most Sundays. We think God is a lot more concerned about what is on the inside than what is on the outside. So for us it's not about the clothes, it's about being part of the body of Christ and gathering to learn His Word.
Cross Culture is a blend of worship styles. Being multi-generational and multi-ethnic, we desire to hit everyone's style at some point. Each service usually includes a traditional hymn, as well as, Gospel or contemporary-style songs. With a live band each week, we lead worship in songs like Only King Forever, Promises, Goodness of God, Jireh, and many more.
The main entrance is opposite the street under an awning. Closest to the door, there are spaces reserved for first time guests and those in need of handicap parking. Regular parking is available along the building and the large parking area.
After you've parked, follow the sidewalk to the main entrance. Our greeters can help direct you to the bathrooms, escort you to the kids area, or answer any questions you may have.

We see in Acts 6 that leaders were raised from each culture to extend beyond Jewish borders, to encompass people from every nation, tongue, and tribe. Biblical unity is not uniformity but an inclusion that the Gospel is for everyone.
This unity that respects and celebrates diversity – cannot be achieved apart from churches that intentionally and joyfully reflect the passion of Christ for all people of the world. It is not the institutions of government or education tasked by God to establish this unity, but rather the local church.
Revelation 7:9 tells us “...a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb...” If the kingdom of God is not segregated, why on earth is the local church?
